Training for all

Training at the Hongthong Muay Thai Gym suits everyone, no matter of the fight experience you have. Most of the training is one on one so the coaches adjust the training accordingly to the level of the fighter. We have students that are training to compete in the sport as well as we have students that are just looking for a fun exercise. So don’t be scared to give it a try, we will guide you all the way.

We teach the beginners the basic and fundamental techniques of Muay Thai, allowing the student to thoroughly understand the movements before going further. With the more experienced fighters we focus on improving their technique and get the fight ready if they wish.

At the gym students have the opportunity to learn Muay Thai with a truly experienced fighters who will help you learn how to punch, kick, practice balancing, learn proper rhythm, and increase your speed and power as you hone your skills.

Normal Session

The normal sessions might include the following (will vary):

Warm up

It is important to warm up good to minimize the risk of injuries. Some mornings we go for a run in the neighborhood of the gym other mornings we warm up by jumping rope. Other warm up activities might be stretching, shadow boxing or tire bounce.

Bag – Pads – Drills Training

Everyday we focus on different techniques and drills, the students will have 3-5 rounds on different bags, 3-5 one-on-one pad rounds with a trainer, and 3-5 rounds in groups with other students and trainers.

Sparring

Sparring is an important part of Muay Thai training. Our trainers direct sparring sessions with the students. It is of course completely voluntary. The sparring allows students to practice and utilize their skills against a real opponent. Usually sparring is done at 50-75% speed and power, and most students wear shin, mouth and head guards to prevent injury. Sparring is one of the most important training tool that will help students to understand Muay Thai as a fight sport and gain experience in the ring.

Stretch – Cool Down

After a good session it is vital to stretch well in order to recover quickly and be ready for the next session. Our trainers will guide you through the all important stretches.
